IN THE SPIRIT OF HARAMBEE
Enda was founded with a mission of bringing a bit of Kenyan athletic excellence to runners everywhere and fuelling economic
development in Kenya.
In pursuit of that mission, we’re measuring our impact in three ways:
development in Kenya.
In pursuit of that mission, we’re measuring our impact in three ways:
Economic development
Creating jobs is just a start. By building new products that have never been made in Kenya before, we aim to create better jobs both in Enda and in the local supply chain. Jobs that demand skills, and result in higher wages. We measure this by the amount of our costs that got to wages in Kenya.
Supporting local communities
A portion of the purchase price of each pair of shoes goes towards social good initiatives in Kenya. We are working with a panel of experts to find projects where we can have the most impact for people who could use the most help. In the spirit of Harambee, we then engage with our global community of Enda runners on which projects to support. We measure this by the amount we give, the people in the global Enda community who take part, and the number of people who have benefitted from the local projects that we support.

CHANGING THE WAY THE WORLD SEES KENYA
This is the hardest to measure, but perhaps the way in which we’ll have the most impact in the long run. We want the whole world to know the creativity and skill that can be found in Kenya. When you see Made in Kenya on a tag, it should automatically mean quality and contemporary style. We’ll be measuring this in the long term through brand surveys analysing how people see and perceive Kenya.
